After dark... or before first light...

Three AM... packing our suitcases... 3:30AM jumping in the car to head towards Penneshaw... the place where our ferry is picking us up... we brace ourselves for a three to four our trip... avoiding all kinds of wildlife... so... Hertz lady... here we go... we were told not to travel after dark... but not to not travel before sunrise...

... we did come across some wildlife... many wallabies... (o)possums... even some boxing kangaroos in the middle of the road... and a koala walking the shoulder (we professionally talked it back into a tree)... but... you could drive easily... you just had to take care... so any wildlife squashed into a doormat on Kangaroo Island is only because the driver didn't want the wildlife not to end up as Same Malones top insulation layer...

We had enough time to watch the sun rise...

... and to search for the marching penguins... but it turned out they only marched right after sunset... we hadn't payed any penguin tax yet anyway...
